Announcing Version 7.4 of NDBLOG.

NDBLOG is the ONLY data logging and database program written especially for NDB
enthusiasts. It is not an SWL or HAM program nor is it a general purpose database
program. It asks for and stores only data that is applicable to NDB's!!

With that said, the latest version is now ready to ship.

Added features include:
(1) The OUTPUT function now allows print data to be written to a file. This file contains
all selected NDB data as well as all printer formatting data, escape sequences, etc.
This allows data to be output for future printing. The DOS PRINT command may
then be used to print the data on the selected printer.
(2) The OUTPUT function also allows data to be sent to a straight ASCII file. This
file will contain only the selected data with no line or page formatting and no spaces
between fields of data. The data for each NDB record is written as one record to the
file. If needed, spaces will still be used to pad each feild to its fixed length. This will
allow other software, such as general database programs, etc., to read NDBLOG data.
(3) Searching for a record by ID while in the Record EDIT function has been greatly
speeded up by using a improved search method.

NDBLOG

NDBLOG supports multiple databases. Separate databases may be combined at any
time if desired. Selecting data may be copied to a new database. Each database may
contain up to 9,999 data records. NDBLOG is Menu driven and all functions may
be selected from the keyboard or by a mouse. In areas where text is required, NDBLOG
will accept only those characters that are appropriate for the current data field.

The various functions available are grouped under the following Menu headings and
are briefly described below;

FILE Function
CREATE new empty Database
(Sets up a newdatabase by entering its name
in the houekeeping files. The name is checked
for previous use, if so it is rejected.)
DELETE Database, USE CAUTION!
(Deletes an entire database! Only use when you
are certin that you no longer want or need the
data in the database.)
OPEN an existing Database
(Calls up the selected database and makes the
data available for use.)
RENAME an existing Database
(Allows you to change the name of a database.)

RECORD Functions
ADD record to Database
(Calls up the Record screen and allows entry of
any all data about an NDB from ID to Address.
Not all data need be entered at once. New data
records are added to the end of the database file
and will not be in any specific order, so the
SORT function should be used after adding.)
MARK/UNMARK Record in Database
(Allows marking and unmarking of records in various
ways. Marking is used as follows; PACK Function
will delete all marked records in the database,
COPY Function will copy marked records to a new
database, OUTPUT Function may allow only
marked records to be output.)
COUNT Marked Records in Database
(Used to indicate if any records have been
marked and if so, how many. See MARK/UNMARK
for uses of Marking records.)
EDIT Record from Database
(Allows you to edit any or all data from a
specific NDB record.)
INSERT Record into Database
(Same as the ADD Function, except that you may
insert the record into the database in a specific
location, thereby eliminating the need to use
the SORT Function.)
LIST Records from Database
(Displays all data from all records on the screen
10 records at a time. The screen may be scrolled
up/down and left/right to view all data.)

UTILITY Functions
CHANGE Enviroment/Printer data
(Changes various elements used by NDBLOG for
on screen and printing uses.)
COMBINE two Databases
(Allows two different databases to be combined
into one. The original two databases are left intact.)
COPY Marked Records to new Database
(As the name implies, all marked records in the
original database will be copied into a new dadabase.)
OUTPUT data from open Database
(Allows data to be printed. You may select which data
fields are printed and in which order. Also allows a
printed formatted file or a plain ASCII file to be written.)
PACK open Database. USE CAUTION!
(Deletes any and all marked records in a database.
Caution should be used to be certain you do not
delete the wrong data.)
SORT open Database
(Allows the data to be sorted by one or more fields.
Each field is sorted in ascending order according to
its data and the previous sorted field.)

Each NDB record stores 30 different data items. These are:

ID
Frequency
Date Heard
Time Heard
Service Type (Marine, Aero, etc.)
Sequence Number (for Marine NDB's)
ID Type (PLAIN, 50/10, DAID, etc.)
Audio Shift
Sideband used
ID Length
ID Cycle Time
Facility
City
State, Province, etc.
Country
Report Date
Verification Date,
Number of days (calculated internally)

Distance and Distance-per-watt values may be displayed as
