Engraving

Laser engraving is just that, engraving with a Laser Beam.
The engraver is a Carbon Dioxide gas laser, delivering a
maximum of 25 watts of power. The beam is focused to a small
spot delivering a temperature of several thousand degrees.
Because of this the beam is swept across the work surface
and is pulsed to carefully control the temperature on the
work. Speed and power are varied depending on the material.
While this is most often used for surface engraving, some
materials can be cut to considerable depth if needed, including
completely through. We were one of the very first in
our city and county to offer laser engraving
and have many years experience.

Laser engraving works best on:

Wood, Engravers Plastic (some other plastics),
Cast Acrylic, some Matt Board, Leather,
'Fountainhead®', 'Corian®' and Glass and
can be used on many other materials.

Feel free to choose from any of our

and Beer Bottles; Acrylic Awards; Wood Boxes; and

Computer Engraving

Computer Engraving is done by Rotary, Burnishing and
Diamond Drag techniques using a computer to actually
move the engraving tool. Rotary engraving uses a tool
with a "V" shaped cutting end. A "Flat" spot at the
tip of the "V" determines the width at the bottom of
the cut. Varying the depth of the cut allows the engraver
to vary the "Look and Feel" of the cut. This is most
often done with plastic. Burnishing uses a tool
very similar to a rotary cutting tool but has no
"Cutting" edge. Instead this tool polishes the top
surface of brass or aluminum. The wider tip of the
tool allows for a bolder effect than Diamond Drag.
As its name implies, Diamond Drag engraving is done
by dragging a fine tipped diamond across the surface
of the material which is typically Brass, Aluminum or
other metals. The line engraved is very fine
and works very well with complex or
elaborate letter styles and logos.

Our Engravers Brass, Steel and Aluminum are coated
with a clear finish. Burnishing or Diamond Drag
Engraving cut through this finish allowing us
to Oxidize (darken) the lettering if desired.

Computer engraving works best on:

Most All Metals, Engravers Plastic and some other plastics.

Feel free to choose from any of our
Computer Engraving Letter Styles when ordering.

Manual Engraving
(Pantographic / Hand)

Manual Engraving uses the same Rotary and Diamond
Drag techniques as computer engraving. The main
difference is that manual engraving is most often
used to engrave round or other odd shaped items,
such as; Cups, Bowls, Silver Stemware, Picture Frames,
Flatware, etc., although we have engraved items as
Sundial Pointers, Chrome Plated Toasters, Various
Swords, Pistols, Golf Clubs, Rifles, etc.

Manual engraving works best on:

Most Metals
(including mugs, bowls & odd shaped items),
Engravers Plastic
(some other plastics, including Delrin).

Feel free to choose from any of our
Manual Engraving Letter Styles when ordering.
